FIND TRUE FREEDOM & DON'T FEAR WHAT OTHERS FEAR

From the ebook 'WE ARE ALL SLAVES TO SOMETHING' A Millennials Guide to Morality in Today's World. Part 5

So much of our way of thinking, our likes, our expectations and our view of life and what we want is based on external cues from society. Society as it stands today is influenced through the media, corporations, social media, government and a re-circulation of these ideas from our peers. Imagine if we could free ourselves of the expectations and perceptions that society puts on us. We are led to believe that we should dress a certain way to associate ourselves with particular interests we may have, we believe we should live a certain lifestyle In order to be happy and we do things to either impress people or be liked by certain people. Despite our reliance upon this worldly existence the truth is that even the most powerful tool in this world, money; can’t buy health, more time or genuine relationships. Material things will only leave you wanting more and alcohol can’t solve your problems. It is also a miserable way to live thinking that your life has no purpose, when bad things happen there may likely be no way out and history will likely not remember you.

"Despite our reliance upon this worldly existence the truth is that even the most powerful tool in this world, money; can’t buy health, more time or genuine relationships"

However, if you understand why you’re on this planet and you’re able to cast your worries upon your redeemer you will become free of the constraints of society. Keep in mind this does not mean that you can simply disobey your government:

Romans 13:1-17, We are called to obey the laws of our government.

Acts 5:27-29, however, this is only as long as our government does not interfere with God’s commands.

What you'll find in this section are verses to look up that provide us the knowledge and comfort we need to truly be free from the world (more to come in part 2), not only that, but with everything going on in the world right now they serve as reminders to not live in fear. Fear can be healthy, it can prevent you from getting hurt or making a bad decision. This is why the 'fear' of God is closer to 'respect' as fear and love cannot exist in the same space (1 John 4:18). However the fear of man and the things on this Earth can be restrictive, unhealthy and ultimately dangerous:

"Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the LORD is kept safe."

Proverbs 29:25

Seeing no hope for the future and fear of what's to come is common among many Americans and it can lead to depression. So ease your mind and find comfort in the truth's below along with the Bible verses they correspond to:

Proverbs 1:33, You can live without fear following God.

Ephesians 4:22, This world has been corrupted by evil desire’s. And we have been corrupted by our own deceitful desires.

1 Peter 3:14, you don’t have to fear what others fear (there’s more freedom in the respecting God than the fear of the world and the opinions of others).

Psalm 37:11, the gentle will succeed in the end.

Matthew 5:44, don’t enslave yourself with hate for others. Love is not a feeling; you can make the choice to love your enemies. Love is a choice you can make based on your feelings however. Love is the willingness to sacrifice and put others before you.

Psalm 37:18-19, God will provide during difficult times.

Psalm 46:1-11, when you know how the things will end, you don’t need to fear how much worse this world progressively becomes.

Matthew 12:39, It is ok to not see miraculous signs today like there was in the Bible. Jesus has stated that no signs from heaven will be given to our generation.

Proverbs 9:10, fearing God is the beginning of wisdom. The 'fear' of God the Bible mentions is better defined as respect.

1 Timothy 6:3-5, those who claim to practice Christianity but teach different doctrines other than that of Jesus, understand nothing. They have more interest in controversies and quarrels about things that result in malicious talk. They will also use godliness for financial gain.

1 Corinthians 10:1-12 It is ok to not be perfect. God was not pleased with many of his chosen people. The people God used to do his will were far from perfect. They were just like you and me. What they went through, the bravery they displayed and the transformation they went through serves as examples for us. But don’t believe you’re too good to fall.

1 Timothy 1:9-10, for the righteous, God’s law is not to be feared. If you love God you will want to follow his law.

Jeremiah 10:2, don’t fear signs or predictions from society that are not biblical.
